About This Project

Metro was looking to expand its vast network of rail lines to reach even more locations within the D.C. area. The proposed Purple Line Expansion would add 21 new stops from Bethesda to New Carrollton along the northern-inner loop of the Capital Beltway.

MCC contracted and completed work along various locations including in the heart of the beautiful, historic University of Maryland campus. This work posed many obstacles and challenges including existing unknown underground utilities, pedestrian detours on campus, and 24-hour work requirements completing jack and bore casings under existing CSX, METRO and Amtrak railways.

Given the high-profile nature of the work, MCC represented the MTA/Metro/Contractor joint venture well, receiving letters of appreciation from local authorities and citizens for our safety program, cleanliness of worksites, professionalism and craftsmanship. MCC continues to complete work for this ongoing project with final completion dates and commissioning of Fall 2023.
